INT: Who are you and how does that come across in your work?

GA: I’m a work in progress. That shows up as continued refinement and exploration. I’m also Black and Queer. I experience those things simultaneously in a world that often separates them. My personal work is about reflecting on that fragmentation and reunifying it.

INT: so is your work always autobiographical?

GA: I’d say so. maybe abstractly. There’s me in everything I do. I don’t think I can completely remove myself.

INT: You’re also a content creator?

GA: I’m experimenting with it. I’ve never been great at that whole thing (connecting with people online). once i started getting my first little boost in followers I’ve

INT: why not?

GA:

INT: whats something youve struggled with in your work?

GA: I do a lot of different things. In the past I struggled a lot under the pressure of settling down into one path to SUCCESS. i would go back and fwd between wanting to write books, do photography, paint, etc. everything came with its own projects. I would ask myself “do i want to do this as a novel or an animation? i don’t have the technical ability to make a feature film on my own. i could make it a comic instead?” for years i went in circles feeling like i was wasting time. Punk culture and embracing DIY has really helped me to accept that i am all of these things and also that is enough. i was adding an obstacle by externalizing my goal and looking into the future as opposed to looking jut at what was at hand?

INT: What’s your goal now?

GA: To make good work… to express myself and to have fun :)
